Jackie Tally is a speaker, writer, choreographer and teacher in the areas of fitness, dance, wellness, and health promotion. She has been teaching dance and fitness for many years in the Birmingham area. Currently, her work includes serving as Adjunct Faculty at Samford University and UAB, Wellness Educator at St. Vincent’s Wellness Services, and the owner of Smart Moves LLC, a dance fitness program for older adults.

Jackie teaches line dancing and ballroom dancing at various venues in Jefferson County. She continues her personal and professional growth by taking weekly dance lessons at the Dr. Dance Studio and by attending weekend dance and fitness seminars all over the country. She teaches a line dancing class at the Homewood Senior Center on Mondays from 6-7:00 PM. She has recently formed the Fast Track Dance Group for persons interested in moving along at a faster pace in learning and performing the contemporary line dances.

Jackie holds degrees in Physical Education and Counseling and she is a certified Group Exercise Instructor through the American Council on Exercise, a certified Wellness Coach through the Cooper Institute, and she holds several specialty certificates in Fitness, Yoga, and Line Dancing. She was named Dance Educator of the year in 2006 by the Alabama State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. She served as President of the Alabama Dance Council in the 1970’s.
