Arts Education Workshop

Track 5 is designed for k-12 classroo0m teachers, arts specialist, and artist who do residency work in the schools.  Nationally renowned dance educator Celeste Miller is co-presenting a series of three worships that provide hands-on learning opportunities. Called Dancing with Our Txt Books on Our Heads, the workshops will focus on working in partnership with schools to  create residencies that integrate dance and the academic core curriculum.  Teachers and artist who register as residency partners are eligible for scholarships!

Scholarship Auditions for Summer Programs

The Summit offers two scholarship audition classes (ages 12-14 and ages 15-up) for summer intensives, workshops or festivals.  Possible scholarships include both in-state and out-of-state opportunities! Students must be registered for Tracks 2,3, or 4 to sign up for the audition classes.

Financial Assistance for the Summit

Limited financial assistance is available for registration fees (not housing) for the 2005 Alabama Dance Summit.  Registrants may qualify for one of the following categories:

Studio Scholarships -- Each studio or dance school receives one free registration for every 10 students registered (does not apply to single class registrations or parent registrations).

Artist and Classroom Teacher Partnership Scholarships -- Artists and teachers who register as partners for Track 5 are eligible for free registrations.

Financial Need Scholarships -- Dancers registering for a full conference track may apply for a scholarship based on financial need.  A letter from a parent justifying the need must accompany the application.  Only a limited number of scholarship are available.

 

Exhibits

Dance compnaies, shcools, studios, artists and vendors may request a complimentary table with their Summit Registration.  Non-registrants must pay a $50 fee to set up an exhibit table.  Limited space is available--reserve your space now!

Housing

The Summit Conference hotel is the Radisson Hotel Birmingham.  A block of rooms is reserved for the Alabama Dance Council with a special room rate of $65 per night for singles or doubles (up to 4 people plus 14% occupancy tax.  Reservations must be mad by December 22 to guarantee the conference rate.  Be sure to let the hotel know that you are attending the Alabama Dance Summit when you call to make reservations.
