Zoe Scofield danced for companies in Boston and Toronto before making her own work. Commissions include Pennsylvania Ballet, Cornish College for the Arts, CalArts/REDCAT, SaltDance Festival, Boston Conservatory, and Velocity Dance Center.  Scofield has received the Mariam McGlone Emerging Choreographer Award from Wesleyan University, Artist Trusts GAP Grant and Artist Fellowship, City Arts Innovator Award, Seattle Magazine’s Spotlight Award, Alpert Award Residency and the Princess Grace Foundation Choreography Award, Works in Process and Special Projects Award.

2013 Stranger Genius award winner zoe | juniper is a Seattle based dance and visual arts team. Co-founded by 2015 Guggenheim Fellow choreographer Zoe Scofield and visual artist Juniper Shuey, the company creates stunning dance, video performance installations and photography works.

Their collaboration began in 2004 for On the Boards’ NWNW Festival, and led to the formation of their company in 2006. Since then their work has been presented and commissioned by Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, On the Boards, Bumbershoot, SCUBA, Bates Dance Festival, PICA’s TBA Festival, DiverseWorks ArtSpace, Spoleto Festival, PS122’s COIL, Columbia College, PuSh Festival, Wesleyan University, Spectrum Dance Theater, American Realness Festival, Dance Theater Workshop/NYLA, REDCAT, Philly Fringe, Danceplace, CNDC Angers France, St. Lucia Jazz Festival, World Music/CRASHArts, Joyce Theater, Frye Art Museum, Yerba Buena Center, Trafo House of Contemporary Art, Body Festival, gloATL, CityArts Festival, Myrna Loy Center and more.

The company has received funding and residencies from the Guggenheim Foundation, Artist Trust, NEFA’s National Dance Project, National Performance Network, Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, Trust for Mutual Understanding, Dance Theater Workshop, MacDowell Colony, Bellagio Center/Rockefeller Foundation, MAD AIR, Arts Center New Zealand, Velocity Dance Center, Jacob’s Pillow, On the Boards and the Mellon Foundation.
