Alabama Screendance Film Festival takes place on January 23, 2027 during the Alabama Dance Festival’s Winter Dance Immersion. This powerful intersection of dance and cinema, in partnership with Sidewalk Film Center, Rogue Dancer, and the University of Alabama, captivates our diverse audience of dance and film enthusiasts.
Dancing into Success is a free, community-centered series designed to help dancers and families explore pathways beyond the stage. Through conversations with professionals in arts administration, advocacy, education, and related fields, participants gain practical insight into careers, funding opportunities, and next steps in the dance ecosystem. The series is welcoming, informative, and focused on helping dancers turn their passion into sustainable possibilities.
Dance for Schools: The Alabama Dance Festival includes a variety of events for educators and students. Starting with a free day-long arts integration workshop, K12 educators and enthusiasts can gather, learn, and receive Continuing Education Credit. Dance Across Birmingham on January 18th offers teachers and students a free day of dance workshops/classes, the Birmingham Dance Showcase, a free concert that presents the talent of local dance artists and groups, AND Dance Performance Assessment gives public school dance students (grades 6+) an opportunity to perform for a standards-based evaluation ($5 fee/dancer/dance).
Winter Dance Immersion and Dance Across Birmingham:
Master Classes: The Alabama Dance Festival offers a diverse range of master classes and workshops from a carefully curated faculty of guest artists. Classes vary across styles and cultural traditions for the introductory level to pre-professional, professional dance artists, and pedagogy and professional development workshops.
Performances: The Alabama Dance Festival boasts two weeks full of performances enjoyed by participants and public alike. A range of work displays the varied styles and traditions practiced by our member schools, studios, companies, and choreographers.
